The Alexandria Pickleball Association (APA) was originally known as the Lakes Area Pickleball Association. They informally formed the association in 2020 when the city was looking for input as they were building the pickleball courts at City Park. As interest in pickleball grew, they saw the need to take this association to the next level and in late 2023 the Lakes Area Pickleball Association changed their name to the Alexandria Area Pickleball Association. Additional Board members were appointed and by March of 2024 the new Association was official.  APA is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
